We hope that you received an email in the last month featuring our new video. It is an inspiring look into the lives of those touched by Southside’s dual-generation and trauma informed program. If you have not seen the video, I urge you to scroll to the bottom of our homepage, www.ssfnc.org, to view it now!
One parent featured in the video, Maria de la Luz, speaks about Southside’s impact in her young son’s development. Her son is now attending High Five in the Minneapolis Public School system and we are happy to share an update.
Maria found SSFNC when she was searching for help. She was overwhelmed with concerns about her son Alex, who could not speak. Through Alex's regular attendance in Southside's therapeutic early childhood education program and the encouragement and parenting support Maria gained in Home Visiting, they are thriving!
Alex’s High Five teacher recently shared with us that Maria is a great and confident advocate for her son—willing to share concerns and stay in touch. She added that in comparison to his peers who did not attend Southside, Alex is “light years ahead” in his social-emotional functioning and developmental progress for his age.
With the foundation of learning, health, safety and success fortified at SSFNC, Maria and Alex are on a trajectory for success in life. Early intervention is clearly a powerful key to building equity!
You are part of our Equity Equation! Your partnership and support generates abundant possibilities for the families we serve. Please take a look and a study of Southside Family Nurturing Center’s Impact Overview. It illustrates SSFNC’s Social Return on Investment and the impact of your investment. Every $1 you give to our dual-generation, trauma-informed program, yields nearly $5 in social return.
Your investment is as important as ever for families at-risk in our community. Your gift to Southside is critical to amplifying the Equity Equation. The commitment you make to our mission year after year ensures children and families reach their full potential and that their futures are full of bright opportunities.
With abundant gratitude,
Julie Ellefson
